Rubberizing (gumming)

Rubberizing (gumming) is the process of applying an ebonite or rubber coating to metal surfaces to protect them from corrosion and other harmful effects, as well as to increase the adhesion of mechanisms mated during operation of the mechanisms. As a rule, such parts of industrial equipment as drums, rollers, shafts or component parts of the product, such as textile or metal cord, are subjected to rubbering.
